Resumen:
Mercury based compounds are among the most noxious chemical substances; methylmercury is one of the six more toxic substances for the environment. We can analize three points. a) Bioaccumulation: Mercury based compounds accumulate inside living organisms. b) Biomagnification: Mercury based compounds magnify their concentration along the chain food. c) Living organisms are composed close to 70% - 80% of water. The biological action of different molecules is heavily influenced by their ability to interact with water in cellular environments. The properties of methylmercury in aqueous environments have not been properly described at the molecular level.
