Resumen:
In this work we attempt to study the curing process and the final properties acquired by silicone gels samples used in the electrical industry. The characterization was performed using mechanical techniques, such as oscillatory rheometry and infrared absorption spectroscopy (FTIR). These techniques allow us to detect and identify both pre-cured parts of the silicone gel as well as information about the structure and the elastic behavior during the curing process. We could index different FTIR peaks for samples cured in situ and measured at different time intervals. In rheological measurements an interesting relaxation peak was found during frequency sweeps, which fits perfectly by a William-Landel-Ferry (WLF) model. We propose an interpretation of its cause and the effects in the material.
