Resumen:
The use of natural proteins to produce hybrids latexes has an increasing importance in industry owing to the opportunity they bring to develop novel eco-friendly materials. This work describes the synthesis of hybrid protein-acrylic latexes by miniemulsion polymerization with the incorporation of zein, a hydrophobic protein, with the aim of improving the water resistance of casein-based films. The obtained hybrids films showed improved water re-sistance and increased surface hydrophobicity.
