Descripción:
Different processes were studied at laboratory scale in order to evaluate its feasibility for industrial wastewaters treatment (containing high chemical oxygen demand (COD) values; higher than 150 ppm). The tested processes were: oxidation with sodium hypochlorite, advanced oxidationprocess with UV / hydrogen peroxide and oxidation with ozone. The feasibility of theprocess was evaluated according to its capacity to reach discharge COD values requiredby the contracting company (COD = 50-75 ppm)GENERAL METHODOLOGYThe study of a process consisted on a set of experimental runs employing specific equipment such as photoreactors and perfect mixing reactors. For each tested process,two/three levels of oxidizing agent were used. During each run, samples were taken atdifferent time. The chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total organic carbon (TOC) wereanalyzed in all samples.CONTENTS- Preliminary Assays: Physicochemical Characterization of the Industrial Wastewater Sample.- Feasibility Study for Industrial Wastewaters Treatment using SodiumHypochlorite.- Feasibility Study for Industrial Wastewaters Treatment employing the UV/H2O2Process.- Feasibility Study for Industrial Wastewaters Treatment employing OzonationProcess.
