Resumen:
Four linear and branched polyethylene therephtalate melts are characterized rheologically through the Phan-Thien and Tanner model with spectral linear and non linear rheological parameters. For this purpose experimental data available in the literature concerning the steady state shear and elongational viscosities are used. Then a melt spinning computational model is applied to this spectral viscoelastic constitutive equation in order to evaluate the spinning elongational viscosity as a function of the spinning elongational rate. The curve thus obtained is compared with the rheometric elongational viscosity. Additional evaluations concerning transient rheometric functions and the skin-core formation in the non isothermal spinning filaments are also reported and discussed briefly here to visualize better the rheological response of these polymer melts under complex processing conditions.
