Resumen:
Cyanides constitute one of the most important familias of pollutants present in the effluents of coal gasification, precious metal minino and electro-plating processes, in which the use of cyanide remains almost essential. The traditional technologies for cyanide oxidation, such as alkaline chlorination or the use of ozone or hydrogen peroxide, do not achieve the complete removal of metal cyanide complexes. In contrast, since the early work of Frank and Bard in 1977, many studies have demonstrated that photocatalytic oxidation processes show a high efficincy en the removal of free cyanides, and also refractory metal complexes.
