Indoor air pollution poses a major threat to human health. As people spend increasingly more time in confined environments rather than outside, the associated risk gets also augmented. Besides, there is a wide variety of pollutants that can be found in polluted environments; among them, formaldehyde (HCHO) is one of the most typical. A potential way of its elimination is the heterogeneous photocatalysis. In this context, the present work presents a methodology that employs the kinetics of photocatalytic degradation of HCHO over titanium dioxide (TiO2), obtained in a simple geometry reactor, for the modeling and simulation of a very different scale and configuration reactor. The approach uses the typical equations of reaction engineering, the radiative transfer equation, the computational modeling by CFD and the experimental stage for both types of reactor.
