Resumen:
Anexperimental comparative study of different meshes as support materials forphotocatalytic applications in gas phase is presented. The photocatalyticoxidation of dichloromethane in air was addressed employing different coated meshesin a laboratory-scale, continuous reactor. Two fiberglass meshes and astainless steel mesh were studied regarding the catalyst load, adherence, andcatalytic activity. Titanium dioxide photocatalyst was immobilized on themeshes by dip-coating cycles. Results indicate the feasibility of thedichloromethane elimination in the three cases. When the number of coating cycleswas doubled, the achieved conversion levels were increased twofold forstainless steel and threefold for the fiberglass meshes. One of the fiberglassmeshes (FG2) showed the highest reactivity per mass of catalyst and percatalytic surface area.
