Resumen:
Short-term voltage stability (STVS) is a problem that has increased in modern power systems due to different detrimental factors and the dynamic behavior of connected devices and components. This paper presents an analysis of different STVS problems, the mechanisms that produce them, some detrimental factors and the effect on the stability after different emergency control actions such as load shedding and connection of reactive power compensation devices based on power electronics. Case studies on the IEEE New England 39-bus test system are presented, in which the effect of control actions on the enhancement of stability is analyzed. Results showed that by applying a high-speed control action, it is possible to mitigate STVS problems such as fast voltage collapses and fault-induced delayed voltage recovery (FIDVR).
