Descripción:
The Liner assembly for the?Production? of the Pierre AugerObservatory surface detectors isperformed at the UTN facilities. Linersare cylindrical bags of 3.60 m diameterand 1.20m high. They are made of Tyvekfibrous polyolefin sheets laminated withblack low-density polyethylene films. Sixfill ports and three dome window/flangesassemblies are sealed at the top of theliner. In the window/flanges assemblythree photo multipliers are mounted tomonitor the tank. The fill ports allow forthe filling and venting of the tank as wellas providing an opening for LED flashersfor calibration and initial testing. (Civit etal., 2003). Liners contain 12000 liters ofultra pure water inside the tank of theSDE detectors. These liners have beenspecially designed to fulfill all needs ofthe Cherenkov Effect (Warner, Harton, and Bauleo, 2002) Two kinds of tests are performed at the UTN site before sending the liners toMalargüe: The bubble and light tests. The Light Leak Detector (LLD) has beendesigned to simplify the light leak testingat the UTN facilities.
