We present test results performed with a CITIROC evaluation kit from Omega, an ASIC considered3 as a possible replacement of the electronics front-end of the AMIGA scintillator modules. Results show4 that the CITIROC chip may be used with Hamamatsu S1257-100C silicon photomultipliers without any5 important modication neither in the digital readout nor in the scintillator module. We also present6 rst results of a prototype module buried associated to the Toune surface detector in Malargüe using7 a silicon photomultiplier plugged to the standard AMIGA front-end electronics.
