Resumen:
This study describes the diversity of uses and applications given to the different biological structures (roots, stems, leaves, apical buds (cogollos), inlorescences, spathes, fruits and seeds) of Syagrus romanzofiana palm by the Guarani of the Argentine Atlantic Forest. The information wasobtained from different bibliographic sources, which include 18 articles, 9 books, 1 undergraduate thesis, 6 master thesis and 1 doctoral thesis. Furthermore, the study was complemented and articulated with irst-hand information recorded in various campaigns carried out in the Guaranívillages. The ield tasks were performed between 2015 and 2018. Openended interviews, participant observation and ethnobotanical walks were used, where the various local uses of the pindo tree were investigated. The main registered uses correspond to the categories food, buildings, medicinal, cultural, utensils and domestic and hunting tools. It was found that the pindo, given the great diversity of uses and assigned jobs, constitutes an important species in the material and social reproduction of local way of life, and it also deserves to be considered as a multipurposepalm tree.
