Resumen:
Endere, M.L., Cantar, N.M., Zulaica, M.L., 2024. Heritage and Sustainability. In: Rehren, T., Nikita, E. (Eds.), Encyclopedia of Archaeology, 2nd Edition, vol. 1, pp. 589–596, London: Academic Press. https://dx.doi.org/10.1016/B978-0-323-90799-6.00040-9. The current management of the territory, which led to a social and climate crisis, has become one of the main threats to cultural heritage safeguarding. As a result, sustainability has become a growing issue for cultural heritage. However, there is no clarity on the link between concepts and what it entails. This entry presents an overview of the historical relationship between cultural heritage and sustainability and its current critical challenges. On the one hand, the analysis shows that sustainability occupies a leading role in international meetings and organizations´ agendas. On the other hand, researchers are searching for methodologies for its implementation.
