Resumen:
The paper presents an exploratory analysis of the social organization of women´s tasks within the household and in the labour market. It is based on in-depth interviews andparticipant observation of a set of low-income households in the Metropolitan Area of Greater Buenos Aires. Domestic and non domestic labor are considered, based on the daily tasks of women who are responsible for housework and reproduction, that is, housewives and mothers of young children requiring almost constant attention. Domestic strategies developed by women depend on whether the women work outside their homes or not, household composition and alternative household resources.
