Seed morphology of fifteen taxa of Caryophyllaceae (13 species and 2 varieties) represented in the National Park Mburucuyá were studied by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. A total of three types of seeds were recognized on the basis of the seminal surface ornamentation and three types according to the pattern: wingless, winged and wingless/winged. The differences observed in exomorphological characteristics show the diagnostic value of the seeds at infrageneric and infraspecific level for the identification of the taxa. The results obtained here are compared with previous studies in related species.
