Resumen:
Plastic wastes are one of the main environmental concerns of the XXI century. Polyethylene (PP) and polypropylene (PE) are two of the most abundant polymers in wastes since they are the most widely used polyolefin polymers. Their separation in common waste recovery operations is very difficult due to their similar properties ? including density ? and therefore blends of PE and PP are important from a technological standview. As a result, polymer waste recovery is providing greatly increased motivation for improving the properties of these polymer blends. Moreover, rubber tires are a huge environmental problem. One possible solution is to reuse them as ground rubber tire particles (GTR) as a composite filler. In this work, fracture performance of PP/PE blends is conducted, as a first step in the way to produce novel PP/PE/GTR composites.
