Resumen:
In Latin America, historical centers, especially those corresponding to capital cities, have been subject to heritage valorization since the mid-twentieth century. In Argentina, this process also emerged during the decade of 1970, through the action of the National Commission of Monuments, Museums and Historical Assets (CNMMLH). However, in the early 1980s this institution decide to create a protocol for the rehabilitation and heritage valorization of historic settlements. In this article we are interested in examining the formulation and implementation of this initiative; which we declare it contributed to promote a process of widening the heritage concept and guidelines at the CNMMLH. Also, that processe was was reflected in the formulation of the internal regulations that were approved during the 1990s, establishing the foundations of current standar guidelines at the CNMMLH.
