La provincia de Buenos Aires (Argentina): de un espacio a un territorio turístico

For approximately two decades (2001-2011), tourism developed by Buenos Aires province (Argentina) seeks to expand its amenities, beyond the beaches of Atlantic coast, generating alternatives to mass tourism. In this process, through the diversification and an economic and social perspective, natural and historic-cultural elements are selected to become touristic attractions. The aim of this paper is to examine the recent touristification process of almost all Buenos Aires province. To fulfill the objectives, web pages, brochures, and official documents of Buenos Aires province, and statistics were analyzed. Also, interviews were conducted to civil servants and neighbors from districts located at the north of the province. The analysis shows that the government is transforming the province into a touristic territory (material and symbolic), outstanding, particularly, the Buenos Aires pampa landscape and ?rural culture?.
