Resumen:
Several species of Alternaria are identified as the main cause of ?blight? in the chrysanthemum crops, in the Province of Corrientes, Argentina. To clarify this situation, samples taken from the production area have been tested in Concepción and nearby areas. After that, pathogenic tests have been implemented and have been identified through positive pathogenic analysis. Making a cross-checking of the ITS rDNA sequence of monosporic strain with molecular databases, it was observed a percentage of 100% similarity with sequences of Alternaria alternata, confirming the results of the morphological studies. In addition, a distance tree genetic analysis confirmed the taxonomic identity of the Alternaria strain from C. morifolium samples as A. alternata.
