Resumen:
One-dimensional magnetic arrays are currently broadly studied because of their potential applications in high-density magnetic recording media and other nanodevices. Several methods have been essayed to synthesize nanowires with specific physical properties, e.g., laser ablation, electrodeposition and supercritical fluid phase inclusion. These processes, however, have the common disadvantage of their complexity.        Applying simpler chemical methods, in previous works we have used the uniform array of parallel channels of the mesoporous solid MCM-41 as a template towards the end of obtaining iron nanowires embedded in the nanometer-sized pores. However, when we followed the inicipient wetness method with an aqueous solution of iron nitrate, we observed that hematite (á-Fe2O3) fills inhomogeneously the MCM-41 pores after impregnation.        In this work, to improve the homogeneity and obtain quasi-one-dimensional arrays of the magnetic Fe3O4, we have attempted a new route using a Fe-carrying organic salt after subjecting the support to a silylation treatment.
