The Cañadón Asfalto Formation of central Patagonia (Argentina) represents a pull-apart basin formed during the Upper Jurassic in response to a generalized extensional tectonics associated to the break-up of Gondwana. Two new U/Pb dating obtained from zircons present in tuffs and tuffites of the Las Chacritas and Puesto Almada Members of the Cañadón Asfalto Formation in the Cerro Cóndor Depocenter are presented. A U-Pb concordia age of 167±4 Ma (Bathonian) for Las Chacritas Mb. and a U-Pb concordia age of 161±3 Ma (Callovian-Oxfordian limit) for Puesto Almada Mb. were obtained. The new ages permit to delineate the sedimentary cycles of the basin. According with previous data of the literature, the sedimentation of Las Chacritas Member would extend from 171±5 Ma to, at least, 167±4 Ma (Bajocian-Bathonian) and the Puesto Almada Mb. would extend from 161±3 Ma to 147±3 Ma (Oxfordian to Tithonian) embracing most of the Late Jurassic.
