Resumen:
The effect of nasally administered non-viable Lactobacillus rhamnosus CRL1505 (Lr05) and its peptidoglycan (Pg05) on respiratory immunity in malnourished mice was studied. Five experimental groups were used. Weaned mice were malnourished with a protein-free diet (PFD) for 21 days (M group). Aged-matched well-nourished mice consumed a balanced conventional diet (BD) for 21 days and were used as a control group (W group). In addition, malnourished mice received BD during 7d (B group) or BD with nasal non-viable Lr05 (Lr05 group) or its Pg (Pg05 group) supplementation during last 2d of the treatment. On d8, the five groups were infected nasally with Streptococcus pneumoniae (Sp) (106 cells/mouse).
