Resumen:
Conducting polymers were studied and developed, particularly in the second part of the XX century. These kinds of materials are very interesting for basic and applied science/technology due to they combine the properties of materials such as metals or semiconductors with an organic structure that allow versatility in synthetic design and functionalization. Conducting polymers present versatility, low cost, biocompatibility, and allow its use in various materials forms. In this presentation, new materials synthesized and characterized using conducting polymer are shown, focusing on composites, nanocomposites, nanoparticles generated by different synthetic methods, and copolymers. Some of the most relevant physicochemical, thermal, electronic, and mechanical properties are discussed. Finally, some potential applications using the generated materials are presented. The applications include antibacterial photothermal therapy, resistive sensors to VOC, and sensor/actuators systems.
