Resumen:
In this article the Life Cycle Costing (LCC) of a 12 PV panels installed as overhangs in an university building en Argentina is calculated. The system provides both shading and electricity to the building. The investment costs of the system includes PV panels and BOS components. The economic benefit of the electricity production is calculated considering the daily mean global anddiffuse irradiation, sunshine duration and ambient temperature data, together with the efficiency of the system. The economic aspect of the shading effect has been considered assuming that the system avoids the costs of an alternative sunshade. Different scenarios has been explored during LCC calculations, using the discount rate and the replacement period for the alternative sunshade asparameters. Results show that a normal PV installation is not cost effective, due to the high investment cost and to the low electricity prices in the country. However, when a double function is obtained, the results are very positive from the economic point of view.
