The project “Assessment of use and depletion of water resources within the LCA framework” was established under the auspices of the UNEP-SETAC Life Cycle Initiative (Phase 2). It aims at developing an operational framework for implementing freshwater resource assessment into current LCA practice and providing adequate life cycle inventory (LCI) schemes and operational impact assessment methods. As a first project deliverable, a general framework for evaluating fresh-water use was developed which provides a basic structure for LCI and impact indicators on midpoint and endpoint level.
