Resumen:
Objective: To analyze the spatial and temporal distribution (1996-2010) of infant mortality (IM) due to congenital malformations (CM) in Brazil. Materials and Methods: Data on births and deaths in children under 1 year of age classified with ICD10 came from the Computer Department of the Unified HealthSystem (Datasus). Percentage of CM deaths (CMD%) and the rate of IM by CM (RIMCM) were calculated by municipality (5600), Federative Units (27) and regions(North, Northeast, South, Southeast and Center-West) The secular trend (ST) and interregional and Federative Units variation in risk was calculated using Poisson regression. The municipal level spatial analysis was performed by finding significant clustering of RIMCM and CMD% (Satscan software). Results: For all of Brazil, RIMCM and CMD% had a positive SR (p
