Resumen:
Adsorption processes have shown a great potential in the field of co2 capture. With numerous tailor made adsorbent materials, like MOFs, zeolites and activated carbons, that are presently available for screening, it becomes and arduous task to choose and adsorbent for a pressure swing adsorption cycle (PSA) design. The existing PSA full-scale models are computationally intensive and when a large number of adsorbents need to be screened, the process becomes complex and time consuming. This research work focuses on the development of simplified mathematical models for rapid and efficient preliminary screening of adsorbents used in PSA. Contour plot of purity, recovery, energy and productivity for each adsorbent were generated and analyzed to develop and assessment scheme for the adsorbent characterization. Analytical expressions of these process parameters are also to be derived which would aid chemist in developing adsorbent at par with required standards for capture and design engineers to choose the best adsorbents for their processes.
