Resumen:
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) comprises a Group of neurodevelopmental disorder that conveys social and communicative impairments and restrictive and repetitive behaviors (APA, 2013). In addition, high rates of psychiatric co-morbidities have been frequently described. In recent years different studies have shown that genetic alterations are providing a framework to explain the emergence of ASD. In fact, technological advances in the field of genetic analysis have revealed that high-impact rare variants of different anomalies, such as submicroscopic Copy Number Variants (CNVs) represent a substantial proportion of the risk of ASD (Lim et al. 2013; Shi et al. 2013)Nevertheless, the variation found in this disorder may be also due to other etiologic causes, such as the infant´s susceptibility to environmental risk factors (Alvarez, 2013; Newschaffer et al., 2012). In short, current research suggests that the causes of ASD are multi-factorial and include both genetic and environmental factors.
