Descripción:
This document describes the findings of the research carried out to assess the research-practice gap on Electronic Governance for Sustainable Development (EGOV4SD) - Foundations. This report is one of the deliverables of the "Electronic Governance for Sustainable Development - Foundations" project executed by UNU-IIST Center for Electronic Governance in the UNU e-Macao Program portfolio for 2011.The document is structured into five sections as follows. Section 1 presents an introduction explaining the reasons for the gap between research and practice in most disciplines. Section 2 introduces a conceptual framework for assessing the gap. The framework comprises three major constructs: 1) the type of research conducted in EGOV4SD - identifying three main categories: pure basic, pure applied and use inspired research; 2) type of problems addressed in research and practice; and 3) intervention areas identified by the contributions of research and practice. Section 3 analyzes the research-practice gap following the proposed framework and based on the results presented on the EGOV4SD state-of-research [6] and state-of-practice [7] reports. Findings are summarized in Section 4 and are included below. Finally, Section 5 concludes the report.
