Resumen:
The variability and heterogeneity of the leachates produced inlandfills have led to the application of AOPs as complementarystages to achieve an adequate treatment. In this presentation, aFenton process was evaluated for application in the treatment of areal leachate. The influence of common variables such as pH,temperature, or reagent ratios is relatively well known. However, the main limitation for an extensive application of this technologyis the treatment cost. In the Fenton process, about an 80% of thetreatment costs can be attributed to reagents (Fe2+ and H2O2),whereby a compromise between the reagent concentration andthe pollutant degradation must be taken into account. In thepresent work, a very low concentration of reagents and low costoperational conditions were used, achieving a significant decreasein COD and a high efficiency, with promissory results.
