Resumen:
This chapter analyzes the potential of the ecological footprint concept as a tool for decision-making in the legal field. The first section presents the narrative with which modern law founded the treatment of the environmental issue and how it has evolved, mapping the contemporary approaches that law has been offering to these problems. The second section (a) presents the idea of ecological footprint, its discursive and legal potential, (b) analyzes how the concept of ecological footprint can be translated into the legal field and (c) what its potential role can be in relation to administrative decisions (c.1.), legislative and regulatory decisions (c.2.) and finally in relation to judicial decisions (c.3.)
