Resumen:
The presence of the Milky Way prevents the detection of extragalactic objects in that direction, mainly at optical wavelengths. However, Galactic dust obscuration is transparent to the near-IR and 21 cm line radiation of neutral hydrogen (Kraan-Korteweg & Woudt 1999). The VISTA Variable in the Vía Láctea (VVV; Minniti et al. 2010) is a deep photometric survey in five (Z, Y, J, H, and Ks) passbands that allow us to look for extragalactic sources obscured by the presence of the Galaxy. The aim of this dissertation is to develop an algorithm to detect and classify extended objects, which are probable extragalactic sources.
