Resumen:
The ocular surface is an exposed mucosa constantly exposed to irritants, allergens, and pathogens. Immune tolerance is crucial for maintaining a clear and non-inflamed ocular surface. The focus of this mini-symposium is to review mechanisms of tolerance induction or tolerance perturbance of the ocular surface/cornea/lacrimal gland in the context of common ocular surface/corneal diseases, such as dry eye, aging, corneal transplants, and cicatrizing conditions of conjunctiva such as scleroderma.
