Resumen:
To study some ecological aspects of mosquitoes in the Dry Chaco phytogeographic region, a study was conducted between February and December 2007 in Misión Nueva Pompeya, Province of Chaco. Three sampled sites: "Fortin Arenales", "Los Pozos" and "Nueva Población" were selected. In each place one CDC-light trap was located in three different sampling stations: extradomiciliary (corresponding to a distant forest between 90 and 110 meters of the home), peridomiciliary (represented by the corral up to 10 meters distant from home) and intradomiciliary (represented by residents' homes). Twenty one mosquito species corresponding to 8 genera were determined. The Index of Species Abundance (ISA) and Species Diversity of each sites and sampling stations were estimated. A cluster analysis to group sites and capture stations in terms of abundance and diversity of species was performed. Mansonia titillans (Walker) was the most abundant and common species in the study area, followed by Uranotaenia apicalis (Theobald) and Anopheles triannulatus (Neiva and Pinto). Regarding seasonality, monthly captures revealed a winter station with little or no presence of mosquitoes and a rainy season (summer- autumn station) with higher abundance, species richness and diversity.
