Resumen:
Currently in Argentina, are used very laborious microscopy techniques in diagnosing malaria, from blood samples. It is necessary to develop sensitive and specific techniques to facilitate such studies. With that goal, a technique of semi-nested multiplex PCR to detect Plasmodium DNA in blood samples and identify the parasite species was adapted. For this purpose, from blood samples on filter paper of malaria patients and from a culture of P. falciparum, DNA was extracted. Specific primers were used to amplify variable sequences present in the small subunit ribosomal (ssrRNA) from parasite, to detect the presence of DNA Plasmodium in the samples analyzed and identifying the parasite species present in them.
