Resumen:
This work investigates numerical simulation of the evolution and generation of convective-diffusive interfaces in double diffusive systems. Simulation of solar pond processes are the primary goal of the work. In particular, numerical simulation of a series of experiments on laboratory solar ponds (the experiments were conduced at the Universidad Nacional de Salta, UNSa) are described. Starting with the initial conditions taken from the experiment, the evolution of salinity and temperature profiles are predicted, as well as the interfaces position. The work demostrates a method for simulating the internal breakdown of a gradient zone and the subsequent growth of the mixed layer in a destabilized region.
