Resumen:
Global energy demand increases continuously leading to the need of developing alternative energy resources, as unconventional hydrocarbon reservoirs. In contrast with conventional ones, these reservoirs are characterized by their extremely low permeability and the presence of organic matter (kerogen), mainly composed by carbon (90-98%) and oxygen atoms, where the hydrocarbons are trapped. The amount of oxygen and hydrogen defines the kerogen type. In this work, it is modeled by considering a carbon matrix with a volumetric fraction of functionalized carboxylic acid (-COOH) ranging between 0-5%. How the fluid transport takes place in the nanoporous structure of the kerogen is of main interest for the oil/gas industry, as it directly impacts on the reserves estimations and recovery factors
