Resumen:
Consider the communication of a single user aidedby a nearby relay involved in a large and dense wireless networkwhere the nodes form an homogeneous Poisson point process. Weassume that the network is working in the interference-limitedregime. In this case the asymptotic error probability is boundedfrom above by the outage probability experienced by the user. Weinvestigate the outage behavior for the well-known cooperativeschemes, namely, decode-and-forward (DF) and compress-and forward(CF). In this setting, the outage events are inducedby both fading and the spatial proximity of neighbor nodeswho generate the strongest interference and hence the worstcommunication case. Upper and lower bounds on the asymptoticerror probability which are tight in some cases are derived. Itis shown that there exists a clear trade-off between the networkdensity and the benefits of user cooperation. These results areuseful to evaluate performance and to optimize relaying schemesin the context of large wireless networks.
