Doxycycline (DOX) an old tetracycline (TC) antibiotic primarily used for skin problems recently proved to be effective in model systems that relate to Parkinson disease (PD) neurodegeneration (DominguezMeijide et al, Neurobiol Dis, 2021; Perry et al, Nat Metab, 2021; Ferreira Jr et al, Cells, 2021). The present work aimed at better characterizing the mechanisms underlying DOX-mediated neuroprotection.
