In Vitro Regeneration of Fragaria Vesca Plants From Leaf and Petiole Explants

The objective of this work was to adjust a plant regeneration system from leaf and petiole of local accessions of F. vesca. Fruits were collected from the location of Villa Nougués, achenes were extracted, scarified with sulfuric acid and plated on half-strength MS 4% sucrose (MS1), and MS 3% sucrose (MS2). Leaf and petiole sections were excised from 4-months-old seedlings and cultured on regeneration medium. Leaves and petioles regenerated as callus. 5mm-height-shoots were excised and cultured in MS1. Rooted plants were rusticated, kept in humid chamber and one month later placed in greenhouse. Results obtained let us to select a suitable culture medium for in vitro germination of achenes of F. vesca, and to adjust an efficient plant regeneration system from leaf and petiole explants.
