Resumen:
Current oral administration of ciprofloxacin antibiotic is commonlyassociated to gastric and intestinal issues. Besides, ciprofloxacin hastendency to stacking with reduced biodisponibility. Encapsulation ofthe antibiotic on biogels, like alginates, is an alternative for oraldelivery. However, ciprofloxacin encapsulation on alginate (2.0 %)microspheres (600 μm diameter) yield is about 46 % underphysiological aqueous conditions. Alternatively, biocompatiblemiscible organic aqueous (O-A) solvent mixtures can increase theencapsulation considering the low solubility of the drug.1,2 polypropilenglycol and High Methoxyl degree pectin were testedto delay ciprofloxacin release under simulated gastric fluid (pH=1.2)and to increase the drug liberation at the intestinal simulated fluid(pH=7,4).
