Resumen:
This work introduces two proposals for the manipulation of ions by means of optical potentials: In a first step, we analyze in detail the trapping of ions by purely optical means, showing that it can be used for implementations where micromotion effects are detrimental. In a second part, we consider the application of state-dependent optical potential for the creation of coherent superpositions of different motional states of an ion chain.
