A numerical simulation of a steam engine, prepared with SIMUSOL program created by INENCO is proposed. Currently this engine is mounted in the solar steam generator installed in San Carlos, Salta. The simulation includes the dynamic operation of the mechanical part of the engine as the thermal part. The system is simulated considering the admission of steam, expansion, compression and exhaust. The piston, crankshaft wheel, the inlet and outlet steam have been included. Thermal losses by conduction and convection have also been contemplated. The results are discussed.
