Resumen:
This chapter adopts a regional perspective to account for the development and transformations of migration and border control in South America. In this sense, the intention is to show that migration and border control policies and practices exceed the national framework. They form part of a network of institutional schemes and strategies, intergovernmental spaces, relations, and networks of actors whose daily deployments connect the on national, regional, and international scales. However, they are justified and implemented in a given national space and based on national affiliation criteria.
