Resumen:
The different fields where Vehicle Routing Problem has been applied have originated a huge variety of different objectives and restrictions that extended this combinatorial optimization problem. Contrary to the huge attention on optimizing quantitative objectives such as length, the literature is less abundant on other, more subjective aspects, such as visual attractiveness. However, the importance of generating nice routes should not be underestimated since they are seen as more intuitive and efficient, facilitating not only the practical implementation of a routing plan but also the positive collaboration between the planning and operational management levels in an organization. This paper analyses how far has the research gone in optimizing visual beauty and presents preliminary results on the development of a heuristic algorithm for improving the visual beauty in a Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem.
