At the outset of the pandemic, it became clearthat misinformation (?fake news?) onCOVID-19 was spreading rapidly. In thisarticle, we discuss our efforts to combatmisinformation by joining with researchersfrom various disciplines in Argentina toform the Science Anti-Fake News team.We highlight three examples of fact checks onvaccine misinformation that we conductedfrom October 2020 to July 2021 and provideevidence of their reach in our social mediaaudiences. The article further discusses themanner in which misinformation spreads andthe importance of ?democratising? theavailability of scientific knowledge in thecontext of the uncertainty provoked by theCOVID-19 pandemic.
