Resumen:
The intent of this handbook is to inform producers, veterinarians and extension personnel regarding some of the basics of controlling internal parasites that affect sheep in Canada. The handbook was written primarily for those working with sheep in central Canada, where recent research carried out by several research institutions has helped to understand the epidemiology of internal parasites in the region. However, this information should also prove useful to those living in other parts of Canada and elsewhere with a similar temperate climate. CONTENTS: - Important Internal Parasites of Sheep in Central Canada: Nematodes (of abomasum, small intestine, large intestine, lungs, and nervous system); Non-Nematodes (tapeworms, protozoa, and trematodes). - Important External Parasites of Sheep: Lice, Mange, Parasitic Flies. - Epidemiology of Gastrointestinal Parasites. - Diagnosing Gastrointestinal Parasitism. - Anthelmintic Drugs for Sheep - Treatment Failure - Anthelmintic Resistance (AR) - Controlling Gastrointestinal Parasites in Sheep Using an Integrated Sustainable Approach - Treatment and Control of Coccidiosis - Control and Prevention of Cysticercus ovis.
