Resumen:
The vibrissal system is present in many mammalsbut especially developed in rodents. Whiskers, or tactile hairs, are the means by which certain species collect tactile informationfrom the nearby environment that is essential for their survival.Relevant advances in the comprehension of mechanical andphysiological aspects of follicle-sinus complex (FSC)mechanoreceptors activation have been reached with themathematical models helps provided the first proposal for themechanism of tactile sensory encoding. Recently, it was proposedthat, different frequency whisker stimulation is a powerful toolthat allows to visualize neural activity in the somatosensorycortex in response to the stimulation of a single whisker bydifferent frequencies. In this work, we propose to associate FSCmecanoreceptors response to the specific vibrissal shaft bystudying the frequency mechanical activation. We found that theactivity evoked in the FSC has a similar behavior to themechanical response obtained from an isolated vibrissa and eachFSC studied is tuning with its corresponding vibrissa.
