Resumen:
Different studies have tried to find a commonthread that places different evolutionary and neo-Schumpeterian contributionsto economic change under one umbrella. The complexity approach can account fora set of attributes that evolutionary economics has been considering, asdecentralized interaction, heterogeneous agents, bounded rationality, networksof linkages, non-linear dynamics, divergent paths, disequilibrium and emergentproperties. In this regard, the complexity approach could be a theoretical andconceptual starting point that allows the integration of differentcontributions (Davis 2008; Fontana 2013). In this article, we attempt to showthat complexity can also be useful to point out the profound differencesbetween evolutionary strands. This paper analyzes how the ontologicalevolutionary assumptions of complexity are emphasized with different intensityby different groups of representative contributions of evolutionary economics. We propose that these differences reflect deeper issues related to two majorconcerns of economic theory: coordination and order vs. transformation andchange of economic systems (Dosi and Orsenigo 1988). In this context, thehypothesis of the article is that complexity acts as an umbrella and at thesame time as a differentiating criterion of different strands withinevolutionary economics, since their ontological assumptions relatedifferentially to these two concerns. <!-- /* Font Definitions */@font-face{font-family:"Cambria Math";panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4;mso-font-charset:0;mso-generic-font-family:roman;mso-font-pitch:variable;mso-font-signature:-536870145 1107305727 0 0 415 0;}@font-face{font-family:"Arial Unicode MS";panose-1:2 11 6 4 2 2 2 2 2 4;mso-font-charset:0;mso-generic-font-family:swiss;mso-font-pitch:variable;mso-font-signature:-134238209 -371195905 63 0 4129279 0;}@font-face{font-family:Garamond;panose-1:2 2 4 4 3 3 1 1 8 3;mso-font-charset:0;mso-generic-font-family:roman;mso-font-pitch:variable;mso-font-signature:647 0 0 0 159 0;} /* Style Definitions */p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal{mso-style-unhide:no;mso-style-parent:"";margin:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;mso-pagination:widow-orphan;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family:"Arial Unicode MS";border:none;mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;}p.Body, li.Body, div.Body{mso-style-name:Body;mso-style-unhide:no;mso-style-parent:"";margin:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;mso-pagination:none;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;mso-fareast-font-family:"Arial Unicode MS";mso-bidi-font-family:"Arial Unicode MS";color:black;border:none;mso-ansi-language:EN-US;text-underline:black;}span.None{mso-style-name:None;mso-style-unhide:no;mso-style-parent:"";}.MsoChpDefault{mso-style-type:export-only;mso-default-props:yes;font-size:10.0pt;mso-ansi-font-size:10.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Arial Unicode MS";border:none;}.MsoPapDefault{mso-style-type:export-only;}@page WordSection1{size:612.0pt 792.0pt;margin:70.85pt 3.0cm 70.85pt 3.0cm;mso-header-margin:36.0pt;mso-footer-margin:36.0pt;mso-paper-source:0;}div.WordSection1{page:WordSection1;}-->
