Resumen:
Over the past decade Argentina has shown increased efforts and investments for the implementation of Science, Technology and Innovation policies aimed at promoting local development dynamics. However, it is hard to establish a correlation between these efforts and the generation of solutions to the major social and environmental problems of the country. Thus, in this political agenda biotechnology has been considered a strategic area. This research seeks to address the question: how are the scientific and technological capacities available in Argentina integrated towards the generation of socially inclusive innovation (in the case of biotechnology)? At the analytical level, this study aims to understand the process of innovation for social inclusion in biotechnology, analyzing the transformation of available knowledge and skills into solutions to social and environmental problems. At the policy level, this research intends to develop inputs for the construction of management models (conception, design, implementation and evaluation) of Science, Technology and Innovation policies for social inclusion and sustainable development.
